The Selection by Kiera Cass is a book about a girl named America Singer. She goes through a lot of emotions in the book and also goes through a lot of hard times. America gets persuaded to enter her name into a drawing. The drawing randomly picks thirty-five girls that get to live at the palace until the prince selects one of them to be his wife. America gets chosen and has ups and downs throughout her whole visit at the palace.
I can relate this book to a different book I read called Red Queen. The main characters are both forced to go to a place that is completely unfamiliar to them. They have such a hard time adjusting and get very homesick. America and the main character of Red Queen, Mare, always feel like they don't fit in. They face many problems and bumps along the way, but end up having a great experience.
In this book, I loved it when America shows emotions and feelings because it makes it seem like you are really there when you read the book. Whenever America felt sad or depressed, it started to make me feel sad. If something really amazing happened to America, I would feel very happy and excited. At certain points of the book, I felt like I could predict what would happen next. When I kept reading, the plot turned out to be completely different from what I expected. That is one of the reasons why I love this book series. It is so unpredictable and exciting, and I never know what's going to happen next.
I really like how detailed your summary was and how you showed your connections! :)
